Xbox’s September update includes a library revamp and new storage options

Microsoft has detailed Xbox’s September update, which is rolling out today.

Key features of the update include “a full library revamp” and new storage and default install options on Xbox consoles.

Following the update, players will also be able to customise the button colour on Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 pads, including the white version, which launched today.

“The My games and apps Full library view has been redesigned to streamline access to all games you have access to install and play,” according to Jonathan Hildebrandt, principal group program manager for Xbox experiences.

“All games now shows all the games you own as well as any games you have access to with your current Xbox subscriptions, including Xbox Game Pass, EA Access, and claimed Games with Gold,” he said. You also get easy access to catalogs of your subscriptions, editorial content, and all your apps.”

Starting today, players can select different default installation locations for games and apps on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles.

Players can choose to have certain types of games or apps installed to internal storage or external drives or expansion cards, or let ‘Let Xbox decide’ where to install the content for the fastest drive with available space.

Xbox Game Bar now enables Windows 11/10 PC players to get a link to share their captures with others via SMS, WhatsApp, Twitter, Messenger and more.

The new Xbox party chat noise suppression feature, which launched for Xbox Series X/S earlier this month, is also rolling out to Xbox One consoles and Windows PCs today.

And Microsoft said a new Party Now feature lets players quickly set up parties on the Xbox app on Android and iOS.

The platform holder recently began testing a new Xbox dashboard ahead of its launch in 2023.
